Coalition to March on the DNC convening progressive forces from across U.S. for April 13 conference

What: Presser and conference launching the Coalition to March on the DNC

Where: Teamster City, 300 S. Ashland Ave., Chicago, Illinois

When: Saturday, April 13th (press conference starts at 8:30 AM, full conference runs from 9 AM to 5 PM; media is welcome to stay for the entire conference and are encouraged to RSVP for full conference through above press contacts)

Why: As the Israeli / U.S. war on Gaza rages on, with the death toll now surpassing 33,000 Palestinian people, the Democratic Party has remained steadfast in its aiding and abetting of Israel’s genocide against Palestine. Most recently, the U.S. Secretaries of State and Defense said separately that they saw no evidence of a genocide, despite mountains to the contrary, as well as an International Court of Justice ruling that Israel is committing a “plausible genocide” in Gaza.

This situation gives even more gravity to the impending August 19th-22nd, 2024, protests on the DNC in Chicago, when grassroots formations from all across the U.S., from immigrant rights, LGBTQ and reproductive rights, labor, police accountability, and peace and justice movements – led by Palestinian organizations – come together to stand with Palestine and to demand that the U.S. end all aid to Israel. The April 13th conference will be a chance for organizations in the coalition, as well as those interested in joining, to prepare for the protests and the actions leading up to it.

“We’re six months into a genocide, and the Democrats have continued to dig in their heels in the face of historic public pressure against them,” said Kobi Guillory, spokesperson for the Coalition to March on the DNC and co-chair of the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression. “We intend to keep building pressure on these genocidal Democrats in the lead-up to the DNC, and we expect that tens of thousands of people from all across the U.S. will join us as we protest and march on the DNC to demand an end to all U.S. aid to Israel.”

“This conference is of major import to the international movement to stop the genocide in Gaza and to support the liberation of Palestine,” said Hatem Abudayyeh, another spokesperson for the Coalition to March on the DNC and National Chair of the U.S. Palestinian Community Network (USPCN). “It makes it clear that Palestine is the most important issue in the world in the run-up to the presidential elections in the U.S.”
