Joe Biden and the Democratic Party are Responsible for the Israeli Genocide Against Gaza

Shortly after the beginning of Al Aqsa Flood on October 7th, when Palestinians broke out of the Gaza prison walls, President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken both visited Israel. Their visits included long meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his war cabinet, and their words and actions since then have made it clear that the purpose of these meetings was to give an explicit blessing from the US government for Apartheid Israel’s genocidal aggression against Gaza and increased repression in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and 1948 Palestine.

The Coalition to March on the DNC stands in unconditional solidarity with the Palestinian resistance, and we demand an end to the use of US tax dollars to fund Apartheid Israel's occupation and genocide in Palestine.

The whole world has witnessed the Israeli Occupation Forces bombing and invading homes, hospitals, schools, places of worship, and many other community buildings in Gaza. The IOF’s attacks have killed over 17,000 Palestinians and displaced nearly 2 million more. High ranking members of the Israeli government, including Netanyahu, have expressed their genocidal intentions on camera.

Progressive forces around the world have united in condemnation of the atrocities committed by the occupation. Millions of people in the US alone have taken to the streets to demand an end to the genocide in Gaza. The demands are directed at officials within the US government, which gives $4 billion to Apartheid Israel annually while public services in the US like healthcare and education crumble from a lack of funding. Biden has also asked Congress to send an additional $14.3 billion of military aid to the genocidal occupying state.

In addition to financial support, Biden and the US government have given their unconditional political support to Apartheid Israel’s genocide. This includes vetoing UN resolutions to stop the aggression against Gaza, passing resolutions conflating anti-zionism with antisemitism, and Biden casting doubt on the number of people murdered by the IOF. The Democratic and Republican party leaders are in lock step when it comes to support for the apartheid entity and repression of pro-Palestinian protests in the US.

As Biden himself admitted in 1986, US support for the occupation of Palestine comes from the need to protect the strategic interests of US imperialism in the region. There is no crime against humanity the ruling class will not commit or allow to keep the exploitative and oppressive imperialist system intact. They will not independently grow a conscience and rescind their support for Israel’s genocide.

The masses of working and oppressed people in the US do not profit from the genocide in Palestine. This is why hundreds of thousands of people have been following the leadership of the Palestinian community in demanding that our elected officials stop the flow of US resources to the genocidal occupying entity. Democratic politicians who are “progressive except for Palestine” such as Jan Schakowsky, Katie Porter, Debbie Dingell, and Mark Pocan, plus Chicago-based legislators who represent a huge constituency of Palestinians and Arabs, like Sean Casten, Dick Durbin, and Tammy Duckworth, have been the targets of protests and call campaigns. Biden has been met with counter protests in multiple cities, including Chicago, where the DNC will take place next year.

The Coalition to March on the DNC consists of organizations throughout the movements for the rights and liberation of working and oppressed people, including the US Palestinian Community Network (USPCN). We will continue to unite with freedom fighters from our diverse communities and fight for Palestine until not a single cent of US taxpayer dollars is going to Apartheid Israel, until all Palestinian refugees and their descendants return to the homes and land from which they were exiled, until the end of occupation and colonization of all Palestinian and Arab land, until all Palestinian and Arab political prisoners are released into the arms of their loved ones, and until all of historical Palestine is free – from the river to the sea.
